There is a revelation of blessing that I believe is neglected by many in the body of Christ. This blessing that I speak of is the blessing of the blesser. Many come to Church , and church events with an attitude of being open to receive Whatever the Lord desires to release to them at that time. Yet when they are filled with the milk of the word they are often indisposed towards assembling and fellowship. Often times the immature neglect needed fellowship because they have misjudged their feelings of spiritual fulness as a reason and a sign to forsake the assembly. This is an error in spiritual judgment.
These believers make a very amateur mistake, not recognizing the full spectrum of fellowship or discerning the body correctly. When we are young spiritually we fellowship primarily to receive help and strength. But when a believer matures, he fellowships more to give help and strength. We are spiritually designed to move from the dimension of simple addiction to the word, and addiction to hearing the message of the Good news toward a more fulfilling role within the house of God. After we are filled with the inspired message of the cross, and satisfied with the revelation of God's word, we should begin to develop the appetite of a minister. An appetite to release the revelation of God to those who are in need. Essentially we should be seeking out opportunities whereby we might serve the body of Christ and bring increase to the kingdom of God.
There is an addiction to the ministry of the saints! 1 Corinthians 16:15 Says that the whole household of a member by the name of Stephanas was addicted to that ministry. And that wasn't the ministry to the saints, or a ministry for the saints, but the ministry of the saints! An addiction and a passion to share the love and life of God whenever and wherever there is a God given opportunity. When a mature saint sees an opportunity to fellowship, his mind should be rewired to think from a heavenly selfless perspective. Being full isn't the reason to abstain from fellowship for such a man. Being full inspires him to fellowship the more, and pour out to others what God by His spirit has poured in! There is a dimension of blessing and a gateway to manifested holiness that only those who have crossed this precipice of love can understand.
Those in the Corinthian church that came to fellowship at the Love feast were required to come to it with a right heart and perspective. When they began to come with a consumer mentality, and an attitude to simply eat and drink without the loving and serving attitude that the feast was designed to promote, there began to be deaths occurring in the members of the congregation. When drunkenness, gluttony and excess began to become the norm, sickness, began to manifest in the members of the congregation. When the law of love is broken, it is replaced with chastisement. There is a time when childishness is winked upon, and there is a time when it is not. Beware of the lethargy of the Corinthians.
IT IS MORE BLESSED TO GIVE
The old adage 'It's more blessed to give then to receive' is a common statement in secular as well as religious circles. Yet upon closer examination of the scripture, we find within this verse a deep and mystical truth. When in respect to the blessings of God, the word 'blessed' implies a divine bestowment of favor and charity received by the blessed one according to divine providence. Essentially the scripture means, You will receive more by giving, then by receiving.
With our earthly minds it is difficult to wrap around such a heavenly and apparently impossible statement. For to receive is receiving, and to give is the antithesis of receiving. How Can a concept such as this be possible? How can one receive more by giving than he can receive by receiving? Yet the truth that is known among the spiritually aware, is that ministry and giving in the natural is the avenue by which you receive spiritual substance. In doing God's will and serving our fellow man, we receive spiritual reward of intangible yet valuable treasures.
Jesus said "My meat is to do the will of the father". This He said in the context of ministry and regarding ministering specifically to a woman at a well. Meat is indicative of mature food. And it is clear that Jesus' receiving the meat of heaven was a product of His devotion to serve the will of God, rather than simply receiving from the hand of God.
I believe when we get this understanding, we will begin to be weaned away from simply receiving milk from the teat of ministers. Yes! It does take time for a baby to be weaned from the breast, and from an addiction to milk. Nevertheless, we must be patiently yet persistently weaned away from mere church goership. Weaned away from beggary and drinking the residue of the digested meat of others. We must begin to thrive on true meat! It takes true meat to sustain a true minister! Only those that are faithful in putting the Lord's ministry that is within them first will reap the secrets of power and revelation that only a minister needs. The Lord will not only naturally, but spiritually invest in our ministry. If we ever pull ourselves out of the mire of lukewarm complacency and selfish justifications, we will reap the good stuff that God has for those who fellowship with his ministering spirits.
The precious is only given to the precious. And when the Lord finds a willing worker, he has found a jewel and one who is worthy of His investment. Give what it is that you have received. Sow your blessing into spiritual soil and God will replenish your supply, super abundantly above that which you have given. He that waters others, will himself be watered.
